BCEC Academic Scholarship Application

Application Information and Disclosures

Completed applications must be received by 5:00 p.m. March 1 of each year. Applications received after this deadline will not be considered.

Two (2) scholarships of $4,000 each (up to $2,000 per year or $1,000 per semester) will be awarded.
Scholarship funds must be applied beginning the first fall semester following graduation from high school.
Applicant must be a graduating high school senior for the current school year.
Applicant must reside with a parent or guardian who is a member of Big Country Electric Cooperative (BCEC).
Applicant must have a minimum cumulative high school 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale to apply.
If the awarded withdraws from the college, junior college, trade school or university and fails to re-enroll at the same or another institution of higher learning, they forfeit the remaining portion of the scholarship and will not be eligible to re-apply for this scholarship if they choose to re-enter the program at a later date.
BCEC will award this scholarship to an individual only once.
If awarded a scholarship, applicant acknowledges that proof of college entrance is required to claim scholarship funds.
Scholarship Funds will be disbursed directly to the institution in which the awarded is enrolled and applied to the student’s account.
Applications will be evaluated by an outside committee – not BCEC employees.
Selection criteria includes evaluation of:
- Scholarship application’s completion and adherence to instructions
- Letters of reference
- Transcripts
- Need for financial assistance
- Applicant’s college and career goals
