Are we working in your area?

Big Country Electric Cooperative is always looking for ways to strengthen the reliability of the electric service our members depend on. One of the ways we do that is by taking a proactive approach to maintenance and improvements across our system.

We will post current updates on projects here, so you can stay in the loop on where we’re working. Members will also be notified by substation feeder via email when crews begin working in a new area.

Contracted Engineering Crew Beginning Work in Anson & Hawley

9/11/2025

Following our recent pole inspections, we identified a significant number of projects that need to be addressed. To move this work forward more efficiently, BCEC has partnered with Empact Engineering, a trusted engineering firm that will assist us by staking jobs and designing work orders. Their expertise will help ensure that projects are completed accurately and on schedule.

Beginning next week, the Empact Engineering crew will focus on the Anson circuits, which include areas in and around Anson and Hawley. The crew will typically work two weeks on and one week off, with some weekends included in their schedule. For easy identification, their vehicles and UTVs will display BCEC signage.

This partnership allows us to complete more work in less time while maintaining our focus on safety and quality. Though you may see Empact Engineering crews out and about, please know that their efforts are part of our ongoing commitment to provide better, more reliable service to every member.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as this work takes place to continue building a stronger electric system that will continue to serve our communities well into the future.

Pole Inspections Underway

9/1/2025

Big Country Electric Cooperative has contracted Sundance Power Pole Inspections to carry out inspection work on our poles throughout the remainder of 2025 and into 2026. Their crews will be inspecting both transmission and distribution lines, beginning with the transmission system this fall.

Pole inspections are an important part of maintaining safe and reliable electric service. Over time, poles can weaken or sustain damage from weather, age, or other environmental factors. Regular inspections allow us to identify potential problems before they become hazards, helping protect members, employees, and the electric system we all depend on. As part of this work, crews may need to access our rights-of-way to reach and inspect equipment. We appreciate your understanding as this essential maintenance takes place.

Sundance crews may be traveling in pickup trucks or four-wheelers along our lines. While some equipment may not display BCEC markings, all vehicles and personnel will carry Sundance identification and licensing.

As inspections move through our service area, members will be notified by substation feeder via email when crews begin working in a new area.
